Overview
For Electrica Distributie Signalight provided a solar obstruction lighting system.
Obstruction lights designed and manufactured by Signalight are helping pilots to identify obstacles and ensuring the safety. Having a 22 years’ experience, Signalight delivers obstruction lighting products and solutions perfectly functional even in the toughest conditions around the world.

Electrica Distributie Brasov uses transmission towers to support the high voltage conductors of the overhead power lines.

Challenge
High structures need LED obstruction lights, so this was the case for high voltage network pillars for Electrica Distributie Brasov.

This solar obstruction lighting system includes a medium intensity obstruction light, type B, on top of the pillar and two low intensity obstruction lights on the arms of the pillar.
The lights are powered in 12 V from a solar system. The client requested the solar system to be redundant so we have two separate solar systems, each one with a battery of 30 A and a photovoltaic panel of 50 W. There is an electronic measuring battery voltage and switching between the batteries depending on charging level.

Signalight provided the following obstruction lighting products:

• Obstruction lights controller – for powering and monitoring obstruction lights
• Quasar Type B – for marking of aerial obstacles
• Type B single – also for marking of aerial obstacles

Signalight can deliver obstruction lights for towers, wind turbines, tall buildings etc. Also, we can use different powering sources with solar power as a principal one and with the mains as secondary.
