Kavala “Lydia” Aerodrome, the first privately owned General Aviation Aerodrome in Greece, is one of the best-equipped airports in southern Europe, and the new training base of the Academy, dedicated to the student’s needs. Kavala Aerodrome has a 1330x2m8 VFR-certified runway, which operates both day and night, allowing the cadets of Egnatia Aviation to train without restrictions.
This lighting project includes Signalight’s following products:
- VISTA Runway Edge – which offers photometric performances matching 30% of the ICAO requirements for High-Intensity Lighting (equivalent to Brightness steps 2, 3, and 4 of standard, High-Intensity CCR)
- VISTA Threshold End – used to mark the end and threshold of the airport’s runway; They can be low or medium intensity offering photometric performances matching 10 or 30% of the ICAO requirements for High-Intensity Lighting (equivalent to Brightness steps 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the constant current regulator)
- Runway Threshold Identification Light – used to identify the threshold, providing guidance during the approach for the pilots
- VISTA Taxiway – offers photometric performances matching the ICAO requirements for High-Intensity Lighting.
- Obstruction Light Type B Single – emits flashing red light and is used to signal obstacles during nighttime
- Wind Direction Indicator
- Heliport Controller V3 – powers, controls, and monitors the lighting circuits and guidance systems on the airport.
- Precision Approach Path Indicator APAPI – signals the pilots if they are on the correct landing angle. Depending on the approach angle, a combination of white and red lights will be seen. More red mean the angle is too low, and more white means it is too high.
