Runway Threshold Identification Light

Runway Threshold Identification Light is a system of two white directional flashing lights. It is part of the guidance system on an airport.

The system is used to identify the threshold, providing guidance during the approach for the pilots. This system is used on VFR airports or instrumental non-precision airports.

The position of the airport runway lighting products is one on the right and one on the left or the threshold lights.

The flashes are synchronized and have a frequency between 60 to 120 per minute.

Runway Threshold Identification Lights are visible from every long distance giving the pilot time to adjust the flight and to make a safe and acquired approach for landing during the night or in reduced visibility conditions.
